Find authorized sales and support contacts for your Ovation system. Featured Technology: Ovation Compact Controller Combining the size and ruggedness of a PLC with the power and ease-of-integration of the Ovation control system, the compact controller supports both water and power applications. I’m re-listing my red Ovation 1869 Custom Legend. Serial Number sn492506, from 1995. I’ve had an Ovation luthier inspect this and replace the Ovation bridge/pickup ($130 part), restring with the appropriate gauge strings, set the neck relief and action, and judge this guitar’s condition, which he judged to be excellent and structurally sound. There should be a paper label inside the guitar. This is where you find the serial, too. Some Ovations also have the serial on the neck block, but this is rare. By looking at the pictures - don't you have better pics?? - it looks like a MiC Ovation Celebrity CC24 to me.

Joined: November 2005 Posts: 14 Location: Canada | Is there a database for Ovation Guitar Serial Numbers that I can just enter a Serial Number and it will tell me about the guitar? I had a link to one moons ago, but seemed to have lost it. Thanks in advance. Al ~ Tune In, Strum On ~

Anyone else heard of this???....I haven't. Roger

But moons ago I had a link to a site where I would type in the make, model and serial number of a guitar. It would tell me the where it was made, when it was made and a brief history of the guitar.

I see that the site isn't as bad as I feared...you have to have the make, model and serial number to get a history. That's different. I understood that the site would give you make and model FROM a serial number. THAT'S SCARY. And very open to use by eBay-using crooks. Roger

If a crooked ebayer wants to lie about the make and model there's nothing you can do. In fact, people do that already, selling guitars they don't have. So be scared now. Big deal.

Hmmm.....come to think of it, I think it was a Martin make that I looked at moons ago. I have an Ovation that I recently acquired that I would like to find the exact month/year it was made. Is there anyway I can find that out online? Simply out of curiousity really.

It gets a little more upsetting when they can add a legit serial number to it, though. The potential is there to cause problems for the legitimate owner of the instrument. You can find out the year, but no more, from the 'Cracking The Code' area on Ovation's website, or within the 'Reference' area within the OFC site. See where within the band of numbers for a year where your serial number is, you can make a fair guess as to what month it was manufactured. Roger |

What year is the model of your guitar? Ever wanted to know but aren’t quite sure. Well, it’s quite easy to determine using the serial number on your Martin guitar.
Where Do I Find the Serial Number?
On Martin Guitars the serial number is usually located on the heel of the neck inside the soundhole. So you’ll need to look through the soundhole towards the neck.
This may be hard to read so you may need to shine a light in there (flashlight, smartphone etc).
Ovation Guitars
There will usually be 2 numbers in there. The first number (the top number) will be the model number. The second number (the bottom number) will be the serial number.
Once You’ve found Your Serial Number
Once you’ve found your serial number check out the table below. This shows all of the serial numbers of Martin’s guitars since 1898!
Ovation Guitar Identification
The serial number for each year shows the serial number of the last guitar that was built in that year.
So, if your serial number is 240121 for example then your Martin guitar was built in 1968. The number is above 230095 so it was built after 1967 but it’s less than 241925 so it was built before the end of 1968 – so it was built in 1968.

Exceptions
In 1981 & 1982 the serial numbers 900001 to 902908 were used on Sigma guitars – so these serial numbers aren’t on any Martin guitars. So the serial numbers for Martin Guitars built in 2002 are 845645-900000 and 902909-916759.
Why is the First Number not 1?
The reason the first number isn’t 1 is that the first guitars in production by Martin weren’t numbered like this. But once they started this numbering system they estimated that they had built 8347 guitars before starting the system – so the first one in the system is 8348.
